Born Andre Kirk Rhoden in the community of August Town in Kingston, Jamaica, Jah Vinci grew up surrounded by music. Raised in a family of six, with both parents as singers, he found his earliest training ground in the church, where his vocal gifts and songwriting abilities were first recognised. In 2005, tragedy struck when he lost his brother to violent crime, an event that motivated him to dedicate himself fully to music and build a better life for his family.
After years of struggle, his breakthrough came in 2008 when a mutual friend introduced him to Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer. Impressed with his talent, Vybz Kartel brought him into the Portmore Empire, and Jah Vinci quickly made his mark with hits such as “Weh Dem A Guh,” “Watch Yuh Friends,” “Birthday,” “Money,” “Mama Love,” “Guide Me” and “Tru Mi Know.” These songs, along with collaborations with Popcaan, Blak Ryno, Aidonia, and Mavado, established Jah Vinci as one of the most soulful and versatile voices in dancehall.
In 2011, seeking a new path, Jah Vinci parted ways with the Portmore Empire and launched his own brand, the Out Clear Movement, with a focus on music that inspired, uplifted, and motivated. In 2018, he collaborated with Quada and producer Notnice on the single “Celebration,” which achieved success locally and internationally. By late 2019, he officially signed with Notnice Records, releasing singles such as “Heart Too Clean” and “If They Know” featuring Jafrass, while also contributing to the Kyng Midas album.
In December 2020, Jah Vinci released his debut EP, I Am the World Singer, which set the stage for a phenomenal 2021. The project’s lead track, “Virgin,” became the number-one streamed song on YouTube in Jamaica that year and firmly established him as a solo powerhouse. He followed with his second EP, Passion, released on December 17, 2021, which featured fan favourites like “Worth It” and “Pretty Like a Rose.”
From 2022 to 2024, Jah Vinci capitalised on the return of global touring after the pandemic lockdowns, intensifying his performance schedule and captivating audiences worldwide. He embarked on an extensive run of shows across the Caribbean, USA, England, Canada, and Portugal, where he made his Lisbon debut to a massive, energised crowd. That same year, he also partnered with Double 7 Energy Drink as their official brand ambassador, expanding their reach while strengthening his own visibility as a cultural figure.
As 2024 drew to a close, Jah Vinci’s momentum surged once again with the release of the powerful single “Scream,” produced by Notnice Records. The track resonated deeply with fans and showcased his evolving artistry, setting the stage for an exciting 2025. In February 2025, he followed up with the Scream EP, further solidifying his position as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary dancehall.
Known for his versatility, Jah Vinci can deliver tender ballads such as “Baby Girl I’m Alone” just as convincingly as militant anthems like “Remedy.” His music has always been about more than entertainment; it is about connection, inspiration, and resilience. From humble beginnings in August Town to international recognition, Jah Vinci continues to live out his mission of creating music that touches lives across the world.
