Jamaican music thrives on powerful stories, and Kram Medley’s journey is rooted in loyalty, vision, and a deep understanding of the culture. Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, Kram’s name is itself a reference to his roots, created by reversing his father’s name, Mark Maurice Medley, into Kram Eciruam Medley. As a teenager, Kram immersed himself in sound system culture, following selectors like Lenny, Glamma G, and Troyton as they evolved from Bass Odyssey into Amplex. His loyalty and commitment to the music reflected the character that would later define his professional path.
Even while still enrolled at St. Catherine High School, Kram was paying close attention to the nuts and bolts of the music business. As a classmate and friend of Ainsley “Notnice” Morris, he witnessed the producer’s early development firsthand. In 2016, Kram joined Notnice Records and became a key force in shaping its business presence. He focused on operations, strengthened the label’s infrastructure, and guided its expansion into international markets.
Since then, he has played an important role in the label’s growth. In 2016 and 2017, he helped drive major releases like the El Chapo Riddim with tracks from Popcaan, Masicka, and Jafrass, and oversaw the signing of standout talents including Jah Vinci, Jafrass, and Nordia Mothersille. In 2019, as executive producer, he helped steer the critically acclaimed Kyng Midas album into the Top 10 of the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. In 2021, he guided Jah Vinci’s I Am the World Singer EP, which featured the breakout hit “Virgin,” the most streamed song on YouTube in Jamaica that year, along with Jafrass’ Faith EP and Jah Vinci’s Passion EP.
Kram’s impact extends to the global stage. In 2022, he earned a Grammy nomination for his work on Spice’s album 10, and in 2024 he claimed a Grammy Award as producer on Colors of Royal by Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus, which won Best Reggae Album. He has also invested in the future of Jamaican music by working with the student band at his alma mater and mentoring young talent, ensuring the continuity of reggae for the next generation.
Most recently, Kram executive produced Nordia Mothersille’s Broken Child EP, which soared to number two on the iTunes Reggae chart. His vision for Notnice Records remains focused on growth, structure, and global reach, making him a crucial part of the label’s continued success.
