Born in Islington, St. Mary, Jamaica, Nordia Mothersille discovered her love for music at an early age. Influenced by the sounds of Tracy Chapman, Luther Ingram, and Etta James, which filled her grandparents’ home, she began writing songs at just ten years old. At Marymount High School, she often performed her own compositions for classmates, while regular church singing further sharpened her voice and confidence.
In 2017, she recorded her first single, “Ice Cream and Chocolate Bars,” with Reef Records, her next-door neighbours. Written late at night when she couldn’t sleep, the song about love gone wrong remains one of her personal favourites. In 2019, Nordia’s unique voice and writing skills caught the attention of producer Ainsley “Notnice” Morris through an Instagram competition. Though she didn’t win, he was impressed enough to invite her onto his Kyng Midas album, and later that year she officially signed to Notnice Records. Her single “Sorry” from the project was well received, followed by “We Rise,” a collaboration featuring Daddy 1, Jafrass, Quada, Intence, I Waata, and others.
She continued to grow as a songwriter and performer, penning “Distance” for Richie Stephens and co-writing with Jah Vinci on tracks like “Not With Me,” “Passion,” and “Soul & Body.” In 2020, she wrote “We Are,” a collaborative anthem recorded with Etana, Richie Spice, Tessanne Chin, Tarrus Riley, Julian Marley, Jesse Royal, Maxi Priest, Romain Virgo, Wayne Marshall, Jah Cure, Sanchez, and others, a project that brought her immense fulfilment.
In 2024, Nordia released her debut EP Broken Child, followed by the empowering single “Greatness (I Am)” in 2025, which earned praise from fans and a public endorsement from sprint legend Usain Bolt. Most recently, she collaborated with Agent Sasco on “Ms. Dior,” a striking track produced by Notnice Records that blends empowerment with soulful delivery, accompanied by a visually captivating video.
A Grammy-winning songwriter for her contribution to Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus’ Colors of Royal, which won Best Reggae Album in 2024, Nordia has already achieved milestones that many artists only dream of. With her distinctive voice and deeply emotive songwriting, she continues to rise as one of the fresh new forces in Jamaican music.
